Hongkongers Abroad: National Security Law

With the help of a small, generous studio here in Sweden, myself and a few other Hongkongers here in Sweden produced a short clip discussing the national security law in Hong Kong and how it creates fear even here, thousands of kilometres away.

For this video, a number of HKers in Sweden were contacted. They all showed a desire to speak out, but with all risks considered, only a few could agree to participate, on the condition that their faces and voices would be disguised. The purpose of this video is to showcase the fear that the Hong Kong national security law inflicts on people wherever they are. Even here in Sweden, where democracy and freedom are values that the people hold paramount.

Everyone’s full interview will be released eventually. There are interviews in Swedish and Cantonese, so it will take some time to prepare. I am grateful to everyone who was able to participate, despite the dangers– not just to themselves, but to their families and friends.
